    Immigration Evaluations

Immigration psychological evaluations are specialized assessments used to provide clinical documentation in support of immigration cases. These evaluations help attorneys, judges, and immigration officials understand the psychological, emotional, and cognitive factors relevant to an individual’s case. They provide objective, evidence-based findings that may support immigration applications.

Evaluations are often recommended by an immigration attorney based on the specific needs of a case.

At Sona Bata Psychological Services (SBPS), we provide thoughtful, objective clinical documentation in Laurel, Columbia, Baltimore, and surrounding Maryland communities that translate personal experiences into clear, evidence-based findings.

    Types of Immigration Evaluations:

    Naturalization Waivers (N-648)
Evaluations assess whether a medical or psychological condition prevents an individual from meeting English and/or civics requirements for naturalization. The evaluation documents functional limitations and supports completion of the N-648 form.

    U Visa Evaluations
Focus on individuals who have experienced qualifying crimes. The evaluation documents psychological impact such as anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms and how these affect functioning.

    VAWA Evaluations
Support individuals who have experienced abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident family member. These evaluations document the presence and psychological effects of abuse and its impact.

    Hardship Waiver Evaluations
Assess the emotional and psychological impact on a qualifying U.S. relative if the applicant were denied entry or removed. Focus includes extreme hardship, mental health concerns, and family separation.

    Asylum Evaluations
Evaluate individuals seeking protection due to persecution or fear of persecution. These assessments document trauma history and related conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, or depression.

    What Do Immigration Evaluations Assess?

Immigration evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of emotional, psychological, and cognitive functioning as it relates to the immigration case. Areas assessed may include:

    - Cognitive and memory-related functioning when relevant
    - Behavioral functioning and coping patterns
    - Personal, medical, family, and psychosocial history
    - Immigration-related stressors and experiences

This comprehensive approach helps clarify psychological factors relevant to the case and provides meaningful, evidence-based documentation.
